Welcome to Buy the Kilo! We're here to help you reduce single-use plastic in your home with our eco-friendly items and refill products. Rooted in Tynemouth, our family-run refill shop is all about good food, local makers, and buying with care. You’ll find us inside Tynemouth Metro Station, where we stock organic refill staples alongside a growing range of local produce we genuinely love. Refill items are priced in 100g units unless stated otherwise, so you can buy little and often.

We stock a vast selection of liquid refill cooking & baking essentials, toiletries, cleaning & laundry - however these are available to shop in store only, as they’re not suitable for shipping.

Please note, as a small independent business, our opening hours can vary. We recommend following us on social media for updates.

Click & collect is available Thursday to Sunday, when the shop is open.

To further support our ethos and to support local artists, we host a gallery space within the store. The work shown is a diverse range of mixed media that highlights the blight of plastic on our land and similarly, in our oceans.
